Soccer Update As the holidays approach, many of us our reminded of one thing—the Annual Andy’s Chapter of Hope Soccer Tournament. Due to construction delays at the Kick’s facilities in Crystal Lake, a date has not yet been set for the 9th annual tournament. We are hoping the facility will be completed in January with a tournament date for January/February of 2003. We will keep you posted on any details as we get them. Eric Perrine Memorial Golf Outing The 3rd Annual Eric Perrine Memorial Golf Outing was held Saturday, June 29th at Eagle Creek Lodge near Shelbyville, Illinois. This event is held each year to honor the memory of Eric Perrine who was lost to leukemia in 1999. Andy met Eric while he was undergoing treatment at Good Shepard Hospital in Barrington. This years event, organized by Eric’s friends and family raised over $14,000 for Leukemia Research. Many thanks go out to Steve Sullivan and Michelle McCurley for their efforts in putting together a wonderful day of golf and a fabulous dinner and auction. Next years event is scheduled for Saturday, June 28th at the same location. Andy and Cher have participated in the outing the last two years and encourage more Andy’s Chapter of Hope members and friends to attend this great event. Advance Transformer Charity Golf Outing Andy’s Chapter of Hope was once again the beneficiary of proceeds from The Advance Transformer Golf Outing held this summer at Boone Creek Golf Course. Bob Thomas, who lost his son John at 18 to leukemia, is an employee at Advance Transformer. Each year Advance Transformer holds a golf tournament with proceeds benefiting a charity. Andy’s Chapter of Hope has been designated as the recipient of these funds for the past three years. In those three years, over $225,000 has been raised by Advance Transformer for leukemia research! Megan Cooper Memorial Golf Outing The 3rd Annual Megan Cooper Memorial Golf Tournament was held Monday, July 22nd at Boone Creek Golf Club in McHenry, IL. Despite a threat of rain, the weather thankfully held out for the 122 golfers who attended the outing. Whether their team shot a 60 or a 100 all seemed to enjoy themselves while honoring the life of Megan Cooper. Megan was lost to leukemia at the age of 8 in 1993. This annual event is held in memory of Megan’s life and for all those who have been lost to leukemia. This years golf and auction raised over $17,000. A big thank you goes out to Outback Steakhouse of Crystal Lake who donated their time and food to provide us with a wonderful dinner. Andy’s Chapter of Hope would also like to thank American Airlines and Kemper Insurance, as well as all of our other sponsors. Their contributions were greatly appreciated and we thank you for joining us in our mission to conquer leukemia, lymphoma, and myelodysplastic syndromes by funding research into their causes and cures, and to enrich the quality of life of those touched by these diseases. Also thanks to all of those who helped plan and organize the event especially Ellen and Charlie Hanson, Sid and Donna Sorenson, Ron and Renee Cooper, Diane Deemer, Kim Scherrer, and Gina Grzelka.
