About Us Since Andy's Chapter of Hope began in October 1995, we have donated just over $1,000,000 toward leukemia Research and financial aid to leukemia patients and their families!! Thank you to everyone who has helped us in our mission. We look forward to your continued support. How We Started: Until June of 1994, leukemia was a distant disease to Andy Hanson and his family. It was then that this 22 year old athlete was diagnosed and began fighting to conquer leukemia and continue his life's goals. When he was in remission, Andy decided he could help other leukemia victims by raising money for research and providing a support system for people affected by leukemia. The end result is a McHenry County Chapter of the Leukemia Research Foundation (LRF) called Andy's Chapter of Hope. Click here to visit the LRF website.
